Janet Louise (Skoglund) Person

Janet Louise Person passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in her daughter Merry’s home on March 9, 2024. She was born in Duluth, MN, as the only child of Joel and Alice Skoglund on February 28, 1937. Janet graduated from Denfeld High School and received an associate degree from the U of M Duluth. Janet married David Collins on October 25, 1958, and moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After living in 8 different eastern US states, Janet & David moved to Big Lake, MN, in 1974. After David’s death, Janet married Wilbur “Bill” Person on November 7, 1987. They resided in Monticello. She was very involved in her church, Bridgeview Church, and was a Bible teacher and mentor for all ages. Janet was a teacher at Rivercrest Christian School and later worked as a secretary for Bridgeview Church. She loved spending time with her family and traveling. Janet is survived by her children: Julie (Donovan) Olson, Rebecca (Jeff) Loverude, David (Blanca) Collins and Merry (David) Bakken, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, stepchildren:  Linda (Dan) Gassler, Jim (Marianne) Person, Carol (Keith) Haasl and Mark Person, plus many step grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joel & Alice Skoglund, her husbands, David Collins and Bill Person, daughter-in-law, Tammy and stepdaughter, Kathy.

Celebration of life for Janet will be on Sunday, March 17, 4 pm at Gateway Church, Elk River. Visitation will be at 3 pm.
